Super Terminal Expo 2024

The Super Terminal Expo 2024, held at Hong Kong's AsiaWorld-Expo, marked a significant milestone in the realm of terminal design, construction, and operations. The inaugural event gathered more than 2,000 participants and over 100 expert speakers and hosted more than 80 sessions, focusing on the critical challenges facing the industry and showcasing innovative solutions for both passenger and cargo terminals.

Boasting one of the busiest ports and airports in the world, along with the largest multi-level air cargo terminal globally and established access to mainland China and the broader Asia Pacific region, Hong Kong serves as an excellent strategic site for this important event.

As the statutory body responsible for the world-class Hong Kong International Airport, the Hong Kong Airport Authority had the opportunity to share its views and experience in a keynote interview and participated in an interactive panel discussion about air cargo and terminal ground handling.

As we reflect on this successful expo, we look forward to continuing our efforts in establishing Hong Kong as a vibrant centre for aviation, fostering collaboration and innovation within the industry. The insights shared by leaders like Maurits Schaafsma from Haarlemmermeer municipality, the Netherlands and Dr. Xingquan Xie from the International Air Transport Association pave the way for future advancements in terminal operations and infrastructure development across Asia and beyond.

Hong Kong is undoubtedly one of the best places in not only the Asia Pacific but also in the world to host this event. The city boasts several advantages as a host city, including its easy accessibility, low taxes, and vibrant atmosphere. With a dynamic blend of business and leisure, there’s always something happening in Hong Kong, making it an ideal destination for visitors.

It is amazing to witness Hong Kong’s ambition of bringing the city into the airport. The vision to transform it into an art hub and to create this fresh concept of an arena truly embodies this idea. By combining this vision with the existing network and strategic location, it could work exceptionally well.

Hong Kong serves as a strategic hub located centrally within Asia. It acts as a vital gateway connecting the region with the rest of the world. Hong Kong's airport hub connects half of the global population within a five-hour flight radius. We at IATA are excited to host the World Sustainability Symposium in Hong Kong next October, expecting to welcome over 850 attendees.
