Asia Pacific Financial Services Association Day Cum Award Presentation Ceremony 2024

Hong Kong hosted the 2024 annual meeting and award presentation ceremony of Asia Pacific Financial Services Association (APFinSA), the largest financial services council in the region. A first for Hong Kong, the event was brought here after a successful bid by the Life Underwriters Association of Hong Kong (LUAHK), with the support of the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB), over 2,000 delegates and licensed financial practitioners from the region’s life insurance industry joined the three-day programme at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. On top of a glamourous award presentation ceremony recognising and celebrating the achievements of outstanding financial advisors and top life insurance producers, the rich content also encompassed a series of industry-focused professional seminars, plus lots of spin-off networking activities and experiences of Hong Kong’s non-stop action.

Matthew Kang, Chairman of APFinSA and the international organiser of the event, said the Hong Kong edition was bigger and richer than ever.

LUAHK president Henry Tsang was excited to have created an exceptional experience in collaboration with the HKTB. "We are truly grateful for the support from the HKTB, which has aided us in the event staging, marketing and promotion. We are delighted to welcome delegates from more than 10 countries and regions to Hong Kong, aligning with HKTB's goals of attracting visitors and enhancing their travel experience in the city."

I'm very proud to say that this year, we have done something quite different. The APFinSA day is being hosted on a larger scale conference. Instead of just the awardees coming to Hong Kong solely to receive the awards, we thought it would be a valuable opportunity to have an APFinSA day where we can feature different speakers, allowing our awardees a chance to learn new things. In fact, we have successfully attracted a remarkably high number of participants for our programme, achieving over 2,000 delegates from all member countries as well as non-member countries.

Hong Kong's prominence as a global financial services hub in the Asia Pacific can be attributed to its high-quality financial infrastructure, proximity to Mainland China, and concentration of financial expertise. The city boasts a robust banking sector, dynamic capital market and comprehensive asset management industry, providing a strong foundation for its status as a leading global financial centre. Hong Kong's proximity to China also positions it as a critical gateway for international businesses entering the Mainland market, and Mainland companies expanding globally. Furthermore, the presence of numerous multinational financial institutions and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange highlight the city's historical significance and resilience as a global financial hub, reinforcing its reputation as a premier destination for financial services in the region.

Hong Kong is a top player in insurance and finance in Asia, thanks to its robust legal framework, comprehensive insurance regulations, and thriving business ecosystem comprising multinational corporations, financial institutions and family offices. This vibrant environment has proven to be a major draw for Mainland Chinese investors, who view Hong Kong as a prime destination for purchasing insurance products and managing their investments. Recognising these strengths, hosting the APFinSA event in Hong Kong allows the organisers to leverage the city's strategic geographical location and dynamic financial ecosystem as an ideal platform to showcase the latest trends and innovations within the Asia-Pacific insurance and finance industries.
