Head to a revitalised 300-year-old Hakka hamlet that retains a combination of Catholic and Hakka culture, on the scenic island of Yim Tin Tsai. It’s only a 15-minute sampan ride from Sai Kung Public Pier. Once home to a 200-strong fishing and salt farming community, the village has now become a destination for annual festivals celebrating local arts and culture.

A range of guided experiences are on offer for parties of up to about 80 people. The most iconic one is a 60-90-minute sea salt-making workshop at Hong Kong’s only preserved UNESCO-recognised salt pans. Continue the adventure with a circular guided island hike to other must-visit sites such as the UNESCO-honoured Saint Joseph Chapel to retrace the footsteps of Catholic missionaries.
